The One Where I Went to Paws in the Park

Week 6 of 52

This week’s blessing has gone to the dogs. Well, if I’m honest my life has gone to the dogs. I joke that my full time job is project managing animals and I wouldn’t have it any other way. Dogs are one of my love languages and I truly have soul connections to my four legged friends. In all my 38 years, I’ve never known life without my best friends. So, this week’s “something new” was extra fun.

For the last 10 years or so, I’ve always wanted to go to this local event called Paws in the Park. The event is hosted by a local animal rescue with a ton of vendors. However, for whatever reason, it just never worked out to go. This year, when I saw I was free that weekend, I said “Hot diggity dog I found my blessing for week”!

The event exceeded my expectations and we enjoyed our day immensely. My partner and I took our doggy Buster who is a true mutt. No, really, a true mutt; he’s 14 different dog breeds according to his DNA test. Paws in the Park fell just a few days shy of his 1 year birthday, so it was one of his many celebrations. The whole time we were there I kept saying it was Doggy Disneyland. The live music, the vendors, the beer garden and, best of all, they had dogs up for adoption while waiving the adoption fee. In true fashion, I wanted to bring them all home and cuddle them.

I’m so so happy I finally got the chance to attend. It was such a joyous day and events such as this restore my faith in humanity. Dogs are pure souls and it’s so amazing when I see humans love their animals so much. I’m actually not sure who had the most fun, the humans or the dogs. Either way, it was day full of blessings all around.
